Booking is now open for the next BWDC Dinner and AGM, which will be on Monday 7th September 2020  at 18:30 for 19:30 at the RAF Club.  Our Guest Speaker this year is

(former Secretary General of NATO and former UK Secretary of State for Defence)

Each member may invite a guest who is genuinely interested in the Club and who is a prospective club member.

Ticket costs this year are £95 for a member, £105 for a guest.  Your Committee have decided that higher prices should apply to help build a cash buffer to support our 100th Anniversary Dinner in 2022.

If you are coming as part of a block booking by someone else, please just drop me an email telling me who is paying for you (to help allow me to keep things straight!) – the calling notice email had attached a membership list so you can see with whom who you might want to co-ordinate!

Our membership information about you

We rely exclusively on email now to stay in contact with you.  You are a member-for-life, and we will continue to send you emails until you tell us to stop!  A ‘personal’ email address helps if you change jobs (or retire!), but we can also hold on record a business address for you.  If either change, please let me know (Bruce –).

Booking for the 2020 Dinner

Booking start date 24 Feb 2020.  As in the past several years:

  • It is NOT a “first past the post” system.
  • I’ll take initial bids and payments up to 1200Z Sunday 8 Mar 2020, at which point I will generate the place allocation database based on ALL bids, in accordance with the priorities guidance agreed by the committee, and after any committee-supervised lottery should demand exceed supply!
  • The main booking system allows one member to pay for up to 2 members plus 2 guests – more than that, see block booking below.
  • As ever, it is ‘payments’ that get you into this place allocation process, not ‘promise of payments’.
  • Any subsequent applications and payments will join a waiting list (if there is one).

I will let you know the results of your request for places by 16 Mar 2020.

Block Bookings (more than 4 places).
  • I will gladly accept block bookings/payments for multiple member/guest tickets (more than 4 places). Remember, these are NOT company tables – they are sets of ‘member plus guest’ requests, paid for by one member).
  • Please select ‘Bulk – more than 4 places‘ on the form – I’ll need each member’s name at the time of booking, please.
  • Should you require an invoice, select ‘Payment Method – Invoice only’ on the form – the resulting email from ‘the system’ will constitute that email, but places in the booking process (for allocation of seats or to the waiting list), will only be AFTER payment is received! 
  • Remember that, in fairness to any members who might be on the waiting list, if a block-booked member drops out (and it happens!) the pair of places should be returned to my ‘pool’, so that I can allocate them to the next member (and guest) on any waiting list.


I have to confirm numbers (and therefore payment) to the RAF Club by 23 Aug.  If you cancel before 23 Aug, I will be able to refund you in full.  If you cancel from 23 Aug onwards, I will only be able to refund you if I still have members who are waiting for places, and who are still able to take up returned tickets

I hope the form is fairly self-explanatory – just in case, in preferred order, options include:

    1. Pay by BACS
      • Fill in the form, selecting ‘Pay By BACS/Cheque ‘
      • Submit!
      • Complete a BACS transfer via your banking system (and please drop me a note to confirm that the transaction has completed ok) – our BACS details are:
        • Pay to: British Wireless Dinner Club
        • Reference: <your name>BWDC2020 (to allow me to join things up – if everyone puts “BWDC” it doesn’t help me )
        • Sort Code: 77:72:04
        • Account: 23840068
    2. Pay by Credit/Debit Card
      • Fill in the form, selecting ‘Pay by Credit/Debit Card’
      • Fill in card details for submission to the STRIPE processing system
      • Click Submit!
        • Confirmation screens and emails should follow
      • (note that BWDC has neither visibility of, nor keeps, credit or debit card information)
    3. Book Online, Pay by Cheque (exceptional circumstances)
      • Fill in the form, selecting ‘Pay by BACS/Cheque’
      • Click Submit
      • Send me (address at bottom of this note) a cheque for the calculated amount together with a hard copy of the submitted form or acknowledgement email – please cross the cheque, and make it payable to British Wireless Dinner Club
    4. Very Last Resort – just send me a note with details, and a cheque for the relevant amount

Should you have any problems with the online options, please drop me a note – I can’t fix things if I don’t know they’re broken!

Should you wish to buy any of these items, please annotate the form accordingly, include the cost in your online payment / cheque, and they will be available for you at the dinner (or, if you annotate the form appropriately, they can be delivered to your address of record).

The 96th Annual Dinner and Annual General Meeting of the British Wireless Dinner Club will be held on Monday 7 September at 1830 for 1930 in the Royal Air Force Club, 128 Piccadilly, London, W1PJ 7Y.  The dress will be dinner jacket/black tie with medals and neck decorations for gentlemen, long or short evening dresses for ladies.

The cost will be £95 for members and £105 for guests, including pre-dinner drinks, wine and port, service charge and VAT.  Note that drinks (wine, soft drinks) in the Presidents’€™ Room and Victoria Room before dinner are included in the price, and there will also be a Cash Bar.

After dinner there will be a Cash Bar in the Presidents’ Room and the adjoining Victoria Room, with a bar extension until midnight.

Each member may invite a guest who is genuinely interested in the Club, and who is a prospective club member.  If your guest wishes to apply for Membership, please direct them to the online process at  All members are asked to encourage suitable candidates to apply for membership at any time, and the committee would ask sponsors to ensure that election to club membership is followed up with the appropriate cheque!

Note for those approved for membership in the last 12 months: only those who have paid their life subscriptions may attend the dinner as members!.
